Do I need an excuse to visit the the street art and graffiti at the NDSM in Amsterdam? No, but I don’t do it on a regular basis. Today there was a good reason to go as Lara Schnitger created a sculpture there: wish Me Well. It is a giant warrior who stands up for feminist values and she has a skirt of sandbags. Lara doesn’t want just create, she wants to make impact. She worked with ten feminist organizations. The sculpture has openings and flags with wishes on them. These where created by ten feminist organizations. If you toss a coin in the opening, the donation will go to the organization which came up with the wish. If you want to know more about the the participating organizations or donate directly: COC Amsterdam, Our Bodies Our Voice, Neighborhood Feminists, Pleasure Society, S.P.E.A.K., Samen naar de Kliniek, Stem Op Een Vrouw, Vrouw aan het IJ, WOMEN Inc. and Woman on Food.
The walls of NDSM are a permanent changing collection of street art and graffiti in all shapes, styles and sizes. It is always a pleasure to make a tour and discover what’s new. Enjoy the work by: 8arm2hug, Donovan Spaanstra, Fake, Geelwijf, KBTR, Oxalien, Ravian Derriere, Simbl, Tiktoy, Tona, YorkOne and many more.
