TinyTribeConcerts organised a concert at the Oosterkerk in Haarlem. This church, build in 1926-27, is a warm, cozy building, build with bricks, a wooden floor and a wooden ceiling. TinyTribeConcerts invited Koen Visser to give a piano concert on the grand piano. The visitors were invited to bring blankets and pillows to enjoy the music in the most comfortable and relaxing way possible for the lie-down concert.
In the middle of a circle of candles, a few spots to keep the light at dusk-level, and surrounded by the audience, Koen kept the music flowing out of the piano and went from an normal volume to super soft and back. As it was silent in the church every note could be heard. The only thing between the audience and Koens music was the accidental squeaking floorboard caused by the photographers and I had to stop myself from singing along with the opening track as it sounded a lot like In a Manner of Speaking by Tuxedomoon.
If Koen plays in your area, just make time to see him!
