Doodtij 2025

13 december 2025

Doodtij is a mini-festival for electronic music, experimentation and just doing things in a different way. Yes, you should have been there to understand. The festival is organized and curated by Hessel Veldman and Martijn Comes and took place at the Pletterij in Haarlem.

Doodtij means neap tide, when there is minimal difference between high and low tide. In March 2026 there will be a new edition of Springtij, when the difference between high and low tide is at its maximum.

The evening started with Kredde & Taitum. With guitar and electronic equipment they created live music for the animations that were displayed. The animations, also created by them, were fun, especially the one that talked about project management.

Hessel met Papi Gaba at the Amsterdam Dance Event, ADE, and he immediately thought more people should hear his music! You should also see him making music. He works with a stack of test equipment, like oscillators, pulse generators, sweep generators, frequency generators and a PAL colour TV pattern generator. This equipment was built for testing purposes, but you can use it to create electronic music!

Acte Vide, duo Danae Stefanou & Yannis Kotsonis, closed the night. Was it poetry with a soundtrack or a soundscape with words? They took us on a sound adventure with piano, laptop and a pile of different objects. Great performance!
