De Haarlemse Dichtlijn – 25 may 2017

Ascension day is the date for the Haarlemse Dichtlijn, the annual poetry festival in Haarlem. With a hundred and one poets performing on six stages in three rounds there is much to see and hear. The event is compressed in a single afternoon by allowing each poet 5 minutes. Most of them performed in two of the three rounds at different locations.

I choose café Koops as the place to be and saw twenty-seven performers. Many poetry styles were represented. It went from classic sonnets to rapstyle flows. Cute sharp observations were followed by mean verbal punches! Fons Stam hosted the stage at Koops and opened each round with one of his own great songs.
