Singer Songwriter Cirkel Haarlem: Open Mic Night XVIII

The 18th Open Mic Night of the Singer Songwriter Cirkel Haarlem was at a new location. Think global, sing local and drink national at Lokaal, the bar specializes in Dutch beer. It has a few important things in common with the venue where it all started, café Briljant. It has the same owner and it has a stage, a bigger one!

The owner, Rob Alphenaar, personally checked the equipment and… played the first song. He was followed by Gwan Brandhorst on the ukelele. If you missed it, that is a pity, cause he will return it to the lady he borrowed it from.

Liza van As was performing for the first time at the Open Mic. With a set of good songs and a sparkling personality she captured the audience’s attention within seconds. Chaimaa Rochdi is back in The Netherlands and it was a pleasure again to hear her sing. Johan Keeman, who was cut a song short at the previous open mic, was back! Sharing four great songs, including a Tom Petty cover, which was sang along by at least half the audience, he showed his skills.

Mark Werkman, who has a website now,  used the open mic as testing ground for new songs. Jasper Schalks and Joshua Aaron where hosting the evening.
